Same issue trying to join on Chrome v61. Was able to join with Internet Explorer. Restarting Chrome and Logging in and out did not resolve the issue.

Experiencing the same problem here, but we are in the same town and using the same ISP. My guess is they've implemented this by checking source IP address, which is a very simple and very flawed way of trying to determine someone's "location".

Was actually playing with another player with the same IP, which is supposed to be allowed if one of the users has a paid account. Which I do. We were also trying to play with another couple who are not on our IP, but live in NY on the same IP, with the same problem. One of them is a paid subscriber.

I am having the same issue, trying to play with someone that lives in another state (trying to play a game that I've played with them before).

L'un join,

Le second join, cela fait leave le premier

Quand le premier revient join, cela fait leave le second et ainsi de suite

J'ai reçu un message d'erreur me disant que je jouais depuis le même lieu que HopiHo, que seuls les membres premium peuvent le faire. Or, nous ne sommes pas dans la même ville.
Nous avons essayé chacun d'inviter l'autre, cela s'est reproduit à chaque fois.

Can't join my girlfriends' game because we "share the same IP address" even though she's across town at work and I'm at home on my computer.

Hi,

The "same location" detector is not 100% reliable, but is working 99% of the time.

Many of the 1% remaining situations corresponds to situation where the 2 players tries to cheat the "same location" detector by using different connexion from the same place.

If one of you manage to reproduce this bug multiple times with players from different location, and can reproduce this on demand, please contact me (contact@boardgamearena.com) so we can test this together and see how we can address the problem.

If you cannot reproduce this bug on demand, this bug has no more use (so I'm closing it at now).

I am having the same issue, @BoubouFR cannot join my games even though we are in different parts of the city. I am a Premium User.

I had just come across this site and had wanted to introduce my wife to board-gaming. We managed to play one game before being denied because of being in the same location. I was looking forward to staying in touch and enjoying this site while we traveled. We use 2 different carriers/ISPs to provide "hotspots" for our laptops. Will we be able to play when we are NOT in the same location?

I am having the same issue. My friend and I are getting the same message when we are across town (not in the same location).

My boyfriend and I managed to play together one week, then every other time after that we got this same IP error. Our public IPs are different, and have been each time we try to play.

Rrsr and lilika are from same location. I'm not why can't I play with any of my friends. I'm not at the same location
