The Shrink Ray card states: "Give 1 Shrink Ray to each Monster you smash with your [claw die]. At the beginning of their turn, Monsters roll 1 less dice for each Shrink Ray token they have on them. A Shrink Ray token can be discarded by using a [heart die] instead of gaining a heart. Armor plating says "Do not lose [heart] when you lose exactly 1 heart." By this definition, if I do one damage while holding Shrink Ray to a player with armor plating, I still "smash" them but they take no damage. This should still result in a Shrink Ray token being given based on the wording on those cards, but no Shrink Ray token went to the player.
