20. Jul 2021 21:42 • I had joined the game and had accepted to start the game. From what I could see, all except one player (amandafreixinho) had "accepted", and so the screen was still on the "refuse/accept" page.
In other games, I have noticed the need to refresh the page at times when it appears that I am stuck at this screen. Thus I refreshed the page and it showed that amandafreixinho still had not clicked "accept" or "refuse".
In the past I have noticed that if I remain stuck on this page despite refreshing, I can go to the lobby and see a link at the top stating that I am currently playing the game. When I click on the link it takes me to the game which appears to already have started.
In this instance however, I did not see any sort of link at the top when I went to the lobby. I refreshed my page again and still nothing changed.
I had NO idea that the game started. I didn't even received the chat notification from the discussion around the game table in which another player asked if I was still there.
As a result of the game starting but without my knowledge, my thinking time expired and another player became frustrated and expelled me from the game.
I would also like to point out that this issue does not appear to be unique to Railroad Ink as it has happened to me when trying to play other games.
I would like my karma and ELO points lost to be restored as it is unfair that I am penalized for glitches in the interface. Until the issue is fixed, I highly suggest implementing a feature for all games in which the other players can abandon the game collectively if one player seems unresponsive but seems to be online, instead of expelling that player. In this case, the other players would not need all players agree to abandon collectively, because that action (as it currently is) would require for the unresponsive player to respond the "abandon the game?" question—which obviously is not going to happen because said player is not receiving any notifications about what's going on!!!!
Sure, the kind thing to do would have been for the other players to make the game turn-based but half of the players on this website have zero patience and seem to jump at the opportunity to expel another player without considering alternative actions.
