The other player played a fifth card during the pegging. Probably a restriction needs to be made on playing cards that aren't in a player's hand.

I believe I saw the same for the green player early on in:

It may be some sort of synchronization issue, as the Green player kept loosing internet access.

I *think* I know what happened. I switched to a laptop that I hadn't used all weekend (work laptop) and it had a very stale window open to a cribbage game against the same opponent (maybe the same game where the bug manifested eventually, not sure), and I tried to play based on what I saw there, however it didn't work, and realizing that the window was stale, i closed it. But when I went back to the current move, it showed that the card I had attempted to play (6 hearts) in the stale window was now showing as played in the current hand. It also happened to be the crib card (up card) for the hand, which made it even more confusing.

My opponent played their first card for the count, and then found a 4th card that had not been present.
Accessing through their iPhone, but logged into the website & confirmed the additional card was present through the website access as well.

Played through the count, and the 5th card was played as the final card. (9 of Spades)

Same problem.

I think what happened, is that I had continued the game on my phone, and when I went to my browser at some point in the future I played a card as the UI mentioned, not realizing the game had progressed past that point. But the card play still applied to the current turn, instead of ending in an error due to it being in the past.

This bug happened to me also!😠 Player managed to play 4 kings, and a 5 as well. Game logs show they received points for Kings that were duplicated and the extra 5 card. They also received additional and multiple 15 for 2 points due to the extra King of Diamonds and the mystery 5. This all started at Move 20! This issue did cause me to lose the game! I chat messaged the player about the 5 card play and they ignored me. boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=518622190

I all of a sudden have 3 cards left in my hand after having already played two, and my opponent has none!

Also occurred on table 635570479, on play 95 it let me play the 3♥ even though I'd previously put it in the crib.

I just played a game and at one point (11:04 according to the game time track), I gave 2 cars to my crib, but somehow the 2 of clubs stayed in my hand. I ended up playing 5 cards during pegging (including the 2 of clubs). When I scored my cards, my hand only had 4 cards (not the 2 of clubs) and my crib only had 3 cards (not the 2 of clubs). Weird bug. Game in question is linked here:

timojaak, it's interesting that when the game is replayed, I see your play the 2 of clubs on move #81 however the display did not show the card in your hand. My guess is that there was a network error that dropped the server acknowledgment back to your browser to update your hand display after the action of putting cards in the crib. Your browser thought you still had the card because the acknowledgement got dropped. When the browser let you play the 2 of clubs you didn't have, likely then the server pulled that card out of the crib incorrectly.

As you can see from this bug report, occasionally these network errors that drop acknowledgements can occur.

Unfortunately, network traffic is not preserved for old games, so I have no way to verify this assumption, however I believe this is what happened. I am not the original developer, just a volunteer helping out with one specific change. The simple logic of the game implementation does not have a lot of network error handling and recovery implemented, so for now, these occasional network errors will cause an issue.
